Mize Houser & Company P.A. Announces New Brand and New Shareholders
(Overland Park, KS January 20, 2020) – Accounting, tax, payroll and consulting firm Mize Houser & Company P.A. announces a name change to Mize CPAs Inc. along with a new logo and website (www.mizecpas.com).
“The firm’s new name and brand are a refresh for a 60+-year-old firm serving clients not only in the Midwest but nationwide,” explains James Hilbert, CPA, Mize CPAs Inc. Chairman of the Board. “We’ve grown through mergers, invested heavily in technology and hired tremendously talented people. Our culture provides a respectful and supportive place for our 225+ employees so they can provide the best accounting, tax, auditing, payroll and consulting services to our clients,” says Hilbert.
In addition to the new brand, the firm is also promoting Rachel Koger, CPA, Diane Junge, CPA, and Eric Merkey, CPA, to Shareholder. Koger and Merkey serve clients through the firm’s Mize Restaurant Group providing accounting, tax, payroll and consulting services to QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) and McDonald’s restaurant franchise owners nationwide. Diane Junge focuses on helping business owners and high net worth individuals with tax planning and consulting with Mize CPAs Inc. Diane has experience in various industries including retail, professional services, and real estate. She joined the firm in 1993 as a part-time tax accountant.
As the 10th largest accounting and consulting firm in the Midwest (Accounting Today, Top 100 firms), Mize posted revenues of $31.9 million with over half of the fees coming from the firm’s national McDonald’s franchise accounting and consulting practice. Mize is now the #1 accounting and consulting firm providing services to McDonald’s franchise owners. “Our growth with McDonald’s owners is a big focus for us in 2020” adds Hilbert.
Leveraging technology will also be a continued focus for Mize CPAs Inc. In 1967, Mize Houser was a pioneer among CPA firms with integrating technology to serve clients with the creation of a 24-hour accessible data center to host client websites and other data. Today the firm offers a robust cloud-based platform for clients to manage payroll, accounting and bill payment and continues to invest in technology improvements including robotic process automation (RPA).
Mize CPAs Inc. will continue to grow its 225+ employee base by leveraging aggressive hiring and retention strategies. “With a tight labor pool, Mize created remote and part-time workforce practices to accommodate employees who want to work outside of the office and balance their career with family commitments,” said Jan Marrs, Talent Director. To ensure retention of high potential talent, Mize also launched a new mentoring program to connect professionals with seasoned shareholders to ensure they achieve their career goals. As a result, the firm was able to hire over 65 new people and promote 30 employees in 2019.
“We are poised for growth at Mize CPAs and are excited about the possibilities this year will bring,” adds Hilbert.
